People usually have oily skin due to the hormonal body imbalances when their sebaceous glands overproduce oil. Oily skin is typical for teenagers, but it can happen at any age. The production of sebum increases in adolescence and afterwards starts reducing.
Oily skin looks dull colored and has greasy shine. Often oily skin has blemishes such as pores and pimples. However, oily skin ages slower than other types of skin. Many people have so-called combination skin when face is oily in some areas and normal or dry in others.
Oily skin care includes washing with plenty of hot water and a pure soap with no artificial additions that dissolve sebum effectively. It is good to apply oil-based products but escape cleansers with alcohol.
During washing don’t forget to massage face with fingertips by upward and outward movements; however, don’t rub soap into the skin because you can clog pores. At the same time too much washing stimulates skin to generate more oil. So, taking oily skin care one should wash face just two or three times a day.
It is also beneficial for oily skin care to prepare a facial sauna with such components as lemongrass, licorice root, and rosebuds. After fifteen minutes of the sauna, you can rinse with the herbal water to cool. Such plants as aloe vera, cypress, geranium, lemon, burdock root, lavender, chamomile, horsetail, oat straw and thyme are very beneficial for oily skin and nourish it.
